The Green Garage project was funded by Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives’ (MAFRI) through the Canada-Manitoba Growing Forward Strategic Innovation Fund – Advancing Agri-Innovation Program. The Composites Innovation Centre (CIC) has managed the program of research and seeking outside contributors to showcase their green building products in the Green Garage Demonstration. The CIC and the Alternative Village at the University of Manitoba have partnered to construct a “Green Garage”. A 16 x 24 foot single car garage has been constructed on site at the Alternative Village to showcase innovative, green building materials with special preference to those containing agricultural materials and composites. The demonstration is not only to showcase how these materials perform individually but also how they perform together in a single structure and interface with one another.
